Allegations of human rights abuse, torture and cruel treatment of Ethiopians working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are not ground shaking breaking news; However, when such degrading and despicable videos as the one above surface, it should cause everyone to pause and take a stand. The absolute lack of indifference shown by those committing the torture and those standing around, indicates such behavior is a normal occurrence. At Solidarity Movement for New Ethiopia (SMNE), we strongly believe "No one is free, until all are free"; and as such we are asking everyone to sign this petition and let your voices be heard. The kingdom of Saudi Arabia claims to be led by the principles of Islam and yet continues to allow its citizens and police to treat Ethiopians like animals. Is this how Islam teaches to treat the poor?
This abhorrent behavior cannot be tolerated. It should incense our sense of fairness and cause us to act as compassionate human beings. Let's put humanity before ethnicity or race and say loudly, "This type of behavior cannot be tolerated in this day and age!". What if these being tortured were Americans or British? Experience has taught us the reaction would have been completely different. We cannot afford to put a lesser value on any human being just because of their socio-economic status. We are all children of God and our lives should be of equal worth. Please be the voice for the voiceless and sign this petition. There is always something you can do to stand up for justice.
